Opportunity Bank of Montana and FHLB Des Moines Partner to Deliver $68,595 to Valley Community Emergency Food Bank
May 18, 2026
Multi-year commitment to bring total support to nearly $100,000 by 2028

The funding includes a $20,000 contribution from Opportunity
Bank and $48,595 through the FHLB Des Moines Member Impact Fund, a matching
grant program designed to amplify community investment through partnerships
with member institutions. Opportunity Bank has also committed an additional
$30,000 over the next two years, bringing total planned support to nearly
$100,000 by the end of 2028.
Opportunity Bank employees presented the grant to Valley Community
Emergency Food Bank representatives at the Bank’s Glasgow branch.
“Community banking is about fostering prosperity for our customers and our communities, and meeting basic needs is foundational to that prosperity,” said Opportunity Bank Board Member Samuel J. Waters, a Glasgow resident. “Opportunity Bank is committed to that effort and is honored to be able to help fund the much-needed services our local food bank provides.”
The Valley Community Emergency Food Bank has served the
community for more than 40 years and provides monthly food assistance to
approximately 180 households.
“The board began a capital campaign nearly two years ago to build a new food distribution center to replace our current facility. Thanks to the generosity of the people, organizations, and businesses in Valley County, this project gained immediate traction. With our goal in sight and planning complete, the board will begin construction early this summer,” said Patt Etchart, with the Valley Community Emergency Food Bank. “As a member of the building committee, I want to express our sincere gratitude to Opportunity Bank of Montana and FHLB of Des Moines. This contribution ensures that this facility will become a reality by the end of 2026.”
